Cargill, a U.S. agribusiness giant, said it's selling its poultry business to DCP Capital, a private equity firm. Cargill Protein China began in 2011, breeding, raising, and processing chickens in Chuzhou in the eastern Anhui province of China. The unit's sale is expected to close this year according to a statement last week and the transaction price is still unknown.

DCP Capital has investments in Fujian Sunner Development, another top poultry producer in China. DCP Capital is focused on Greater China and is led by former KKR and Morgan Stanley private equity business members according to their website.

After the United States, China is the world's number 2 poultry producer, producing about 19 million tonnes of chicken meat last year.
