Tulare County Named 2022 Top Ag Producing County in the U.S



Tulare County is now the top agricultural-producing county in the United States for 2022. It reported $8.6 billion in agricultural production, outperforming Fresno County's record of $8.095 billion. Together with Kern County, they contribute 44% to California's total agricultural production value of $55,871,204,000.



Tulare County:

  • Milk continues to be the leading commodity in Tulare County with a gross value of $2.67 billion

  • Orange production took the second spot for the county's ag commodities and added another $1.3 billion to the county’s gross agricultural output in 2022

  • Grape values across raisin, table, and wine varieties ranked third in gross value at over $841 million in 2022


Fresno County:

  • For the first time since 2012, grapes are Fresno County’s top leading ag commodity with a gross value of $1.2 billion

  • Almonds took the second spot for the county’s ag commodities with a value of $1 billion

  • Pistachios rank third with a value of $705 million in 2022
